Frequently Asked Questions

Adding a lift to your private residential landed home in Singapore? We’ve got you covered.
We understand that the decision to install a residential home lift can be a complicated process. That’s why we’ve made it easier for you with our list of questions below to help you navigate the process.

If you are looking for platform lifts option for your A&A project, please visit here.

The industry is progressing towards using motor room-less (MRL) and gearless traction machine. The benefits include a smooth ride, energy efficiency, and a compact design.

The standard smallest configuration is:

External shaft size: 2000w x 2000d
Internal shaft size: 1600w x 1600d
Cabin size: 900w x1200d
Capacity: 375kg / 5 persons

For a slightly different shaft size, please contact us for a customised proposal.

Traction elevators require ample space and are ideal for Rebuild projects with sufficient clearance both in the lift pit and the overhead of the home. If you require a smaller elevator, do visit our platform lifts page.

Please get in touch to find the best fit for your needs.

Please note that this is a general cost reference.

It’s important to note that the structural works required for the lift core and the lift shaft are not included in this cost. The lift shaft may be reinforced concrete or glass on structural support beams, and this has to be provided by the builder.

The installation cost for a home elevator is up to $85,000, depending on selection including the make of lift, finishings etc.

Get in touch with your floor plans for an accurate quotation.

The pit is the space below the lowest FFL. Required pit is from 1300mm.
The overrun/ overhead/ headroom is the space above the highest FFL. Required OH is from 3800mm.

These are necessary because:

  1. Both the pit and overrun are designed to accommodate the various components of the elevator system and provide safety mechanisms to protect against potential malfunctions or emergencies.
  2. In addition to these, the Building & Construction Authority (BCA) latest SS550:2020 safety code requires 2 refuge space in both the pit and overhead. This is to increase the safety levels for the technicians working within the lift shaft.

The specific depth of the pit and the height of the overrun can vary base on factors such as the type of elevator, building codes, and safety regulations.

If you are concern with meeting the overrun requirements, the guideline from Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) states that: For Semi-detached houses, Lift shaft shall be kept within the permissible building envelope. While lift protrusions of up to 1.0m above the envelope control line may be allowed for lift overruns.

*SS550 : 2020 is the latest code of practice for the installation , operation and maintenance of electric passenger and goods lifts set out in 2021 by BCA.

An elevator’s lifespan can be significantly prolonged with good installation and regular maintenance. Though after 25-30 years, it may require more maintenance and become less reliable, making it less cost-effective. If you’re looking for a solution to ensure your elevator operates at its best, you may consider modernisation or a full replacement.

Metron’s promise is in the details.
From its advanced manufacturing lines to well-prepared and guided installation techniques, Metron extends its highest level of quality control in where it matters, beyond the factory and in every installation and maintenance service.

Precision Installation is where proper alignment of the guide rail sections is achieved to ensure seamless smooth travel, less wear and tear due to friction and hence minimise rate of degradation of the lift components. These are critical factors in order to protect your investment in a home lift.

The fire-rated landing door prevents smoke from being drawn into the lift shaft through the ‘piston-effect’ of the movement of the lift, thus, preventing smoke migration to other levels of the development.

The need for fire-rated doors in Singapore private landed homes are when there are instances of a basement level. When the lift opening into a basement is not adjoining a void that opens to the sky or any external spaces, fire-rated doors will likely be required. This requirement is to be advised by the architect and the governing authority on this matter is the SCDF.

We provide fire-rated sliding and swing doors for both Traction and Platform lifts for Good Class Bungalows, Detached, and Terrace landed homes.

Choosing the right home lift company to engage means looking beyond the quoted price. Consider the intangible values like reliability and expertise.
